CarComplaints.com Notes: You should probably steer clear of the 2012 Focus. Otherwise, you might not be able to steer at all.

The 2012 is the first Focus to offer Electronic Power Assist Steering (EPAS). It's also the first year with massive power steering failure. These things are not mutually exclusive.

And while you wait for your steering to disappear, you'll be greeted with a transmission that shudders, vibrates or won't shift at all.

We take very good care of our 2012 Ford Focus SEL and it has very low mileage. Recently the driver side seat belt would not release so you're stuck in the seat and it will take 5 minutes or so to finally let you out. Other times it works fine. I went to the dealer and he seemed more annoyed with my problem then willing to help me out. I walked out before I went off on the guy. I do plan on making an appointment with the dealership to get it repaired but since it's a safety issue the guy in the shop managed to utter that the seat belt would have to be replace and it wouldn't be cheap. Ford needs to look into this problem. If my car was on fire I couldn't get out! A well cared for car shouldn't need an expensive new seat belt when it's only four years old! This should be a recall.

NOT EVEN 3 WEEKS WE HAD THE CAR, STEERING WENT! FIXED IT. WENT IN ROWE FORD "MANY" TIMES FOR SHIFTING. THEY KEPT TELLING US NOTHING WAS WRONG, EVEN THOUGH WE FEEL IT.. OVER AND OVER TELLING THEM, THEY DID "NOTHING" AND THEY HAD KNOWN ABOUT THIS AFTER I RESEARCHED IT ON COMPUTER. THEY ALL HAD SERVICE BULLETINS ABOUT TRANSMISSION! FINELY REPLACED CLUTCHES. THEY LIED OVER AND OVER AND OVER TO OUR FACES... STILL ACTS STRANGE AT TIMES.WARRANTY WAS EXTENDED, SO THEY KNOW TRANSMISSION IS "JUNK"

Seat Belt would not let me go. After threatening to grab a knife and cut it I finally got a break from work to go get it fixed. Seat Belt Buckle had to be ordered so they rigged it until it came in. All fixed for now.

About every third day for the last 3 months (bought the car in August, had it 7 months) I get stuck in my seat belt. I have to beat the buckle or climb out of it and let me husband beat on it to get it undone. The dealership says they can repair it when I come in for service but 2 trips later still have not done so. MAJOR FAIL!
