CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2013-2014 Honda Accord is showing signs of an electrical problem with the starter failing soon after the 36K mile warranty expires. It's compounded by reports that the OEM battery doesn't have sufficient amps to start the V6 reliably after a year or two.
For now we are rating this problem with the "Beware" seal because it's occurring so soon after the 36K mile warranty expires. The upshot is when your Accord won't start, that's never good, but especially bad when it's just a few years old.
Also once again, owners are complaining that the 2013 Honda Accord seats are uncomfortable. Uncomfortable seats has been a significant complaint with the Accord since the 2008 model year.

The car has gradually required numerous attempts to start anywhere from 2 to 12 and on some occasions required a jump to start from another vehicle. This started two weeks ago and has progressively gotten worse over that time. Diagnostic testing on 1-15-18 revealed no problems with the car specifically the electrical system.
The contact owns a 2013 Honda Accord. The contact experienced difficulty starting the vehicle. The contact stated that the starter was too new to have to replace so soon. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 58,000.
I noticed several weeks ago that the car would not start at first attempt and today (01-25-18) my 2013 Honda Accord failed to start completely. I have about 50,000 miles on it and I feel that this problem should not happen since the car is not very old. Now I have to pay about $900 to have it repaired because a new starter is needed. Hopefully, the car was in the parking lot of my local library so no accidents happened. The only reason I have this car is for its reliability but now I have second thoughts.
Intermittent starting problems. Depress the brake, push the start button: A click, dashboard lights some on, radio works, starter does not even try to turn over....nothing. After a few tries, the car starts just fine. Car was stationary when trying to start.
Our 2013 Honda Accord push button engine start button is not working reliably. We depress the brake and push the button, lights come on but no starter noise. We recently had the Honda recall for the battery boot completed. Within 2 months we began having difficulty with the push button engine start. The car battery was replaced approximately 4 months ago so we were sure it wasn't that. Next step, replaced both fob batteries. Still having the same difficulty. Is it a coincidence that Honda dealer has been in the engine/electrical system recently or is this a bad sign of Honda's poor workmanship?

The contact owns a 2013 Honda Accord. When the contact attempted to start the vehicle by pushing the button, the vehicle failed to start on the first attempt. The failure occurred without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (Honda world westminster, 13600 beach blvd, westminster, ca 92683) where it was diagnosed that the starter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted at 800-999-1009 and stated that they would call the contact back. The contact did not receive any calls from the manufacturer. Case number: 06597757/66597757 was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 38,000.
60,000 miles car would not start. After several attempts it started ok. Again a few days later tried to start and would not. Bought a new battery and worked ok for a couple days. Getting worse and worse and now instead of once a week it's 4-5 times a week. Took to Honda dealership in leesberg fla and they told me I was putting "cell phone" to close to key fob therefore blocking signal to ignition. The next day I replaced key fob and did not have cell phone anywhere close. Car would not start. After now knowing if car would start or not and dealer telling me unless it happened "all" the time they could not fix. Got on the internet and it said that everyone is having this problem and Honda has a defective starter. I took car to have new starter installed and have not had any problems since. I find it strange that the Honda "dealer" was not aware of this and I had to research info thru the internet to find the problem and don't know why Honda does not repay the customer and or have a recall on the starter. My problem is now fixed with the installation of a new starter!
The starter grinds or spins at startup. The issue is similar to https://static.NHTSA.gov/ODI/tsbs/2016/sb-10088442-2280.pdf. It appears other Honda Accord models are also impacted. I have Honda Accord
I have been having trouble with starting up my Honda Accord. I thought it was the battery so I got that replaced but am still having issues. I press the start button and the power turns on but does not start the engine. It does this multiple times. Sometimes it will start the engine but lately, it has turned more into a gamble on when it will actually start the engine.
Takata recall. The contact owns a 2013 Honda Accord. The contact stated that there was a sudden loss of power and control of the vehicle. While driving approximately 65 mph, the vehicle veered to the right and crashed into a pole. The front driver and passenger side air bags deployed with force. The driver sustained a broken right arm, minor bruising, and scratches from the impact, which required medical assistance. The front passenger sustained shock and whiplash, which also required medical assistance. A police report was filed. The insurance company towed the vehicle to a collision center. The vehicle was not diagnosed by a dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure years later. The VIN and failure mileage were not available.
The contact owns a 2013 Honda Accord. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start without warning. The vehicle was taken to gwinnett place Honda (3325 satellite blvd, duluth, ga 30096) where it was diagnosed that the starter needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.
Starter failure at only 45,000 miles. Vehicle will sometimes start immediately and other times will only start after multiple attempt over a period of several minutes. When the system fails, the lights on the dash will be on, but there is not sound coming from the starter.
I received a recall notice and the dealer "auto nation Honda of chandler AZ" has not returned any of my calls to this fixed. Dealers phone number 480_505_5185 service the mike bradley. I have had numerous electrical problems with this car. Thank you
(from the service department's invoice on 08/09/16) 2 sensor one wires chewed on by rodent shorting PCM. Triggered shut off. Replaced sensor. My complaint is that the wires were not vinyl but were soy and that's the cause of the problem. The car had to be towed to the dealer for repair. Since the car was out of warranty, I was charged $422 to replace the sensor. I want a refund. I understand that there is a class action law suit against Honda over the issue of the soy coated wires. ( my husband, roy baker, is most familiar with this issue.)
I have a 2013 Honda Accord and I have been the only owner. I recently had to replace the starter! it's rediculous to have to do that on a 2013. I would press the start button and it would just click. After several attempts, it would finally start.
@31000 mles, trunk lid no longer responds to key fob. Opening trunk requires inside lever action. Estimated cost to repair seems out of reason for a part that failed while car was in garage.
Start button issue on 2013 Honda Accord. Periodically, the start button does not start the car. It sounds like static. The car eventually will start after multiple attempts. I noted many complaints of such a similar problem on cargurus.com web blog. My car only has 42,000 miles. The dealer said it was the starter and it has been replaced at a cost of $1,018.61.
The contact owns a 2013 Honda Accord. While the vehicle was parked, the battery failed. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 17V418000 (electrical system). The local dealer (kens harvey dublin Honda, 6300 dublin blvd, dublin, ca 94568) was contacted and stated that the parts were not available. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The contact received the notification for the parts to become available. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.
In the few years I've had my car, which I take very good care of and have low mileage on, the power steering stopped working suddenly while I was driving (very scary and dangerous!), the driver's side sun visor broke one day when I was trying to put it back up, and the dashboard sensors go off unnecessarily. Very disappointing from a Honda vehicle. Beware!
