After my 2009 Altima started hesitating I had the $125 computer check done. Said it could be the c02 sensors , transmission,, etc. Hesitation was getting worse on a slight incline. Or from a dead stop to starting.to go forward. I could not believe several weeks ago I was starting to leave my driveway and it was performing. I turned around and thought just to take other car. No indicating lights like check engine or oil or anything just the hesitation. Well next day i could not depress the brake pedal which I just had the component changed under pedal and the standard computer check for $125.00. Not sure of issue?

Well I googled issue and guess what Nissan this is what you are known for!!!. Not sure of how bad it is but $5,000 to $6500.00 going repair and a lot fail within 40000 miles after repair. Well, I guess it will sit so I can decide what to do. I should have kept my Toyota Camry 2004 which my granddaughter now has with 297000 miles and going strong. Never a issue. I have had a lot of cars and only regular maintenance kept them going strong. Just disappointed. New tires last sept and new brakes in rear in May or June now it sits dead in driveway. Live and learn as I know no help from NISSAN. Going back to Toyota and I will google any issues and recalls before I go looking.

DO NOT buy any Nissan with a CVT transmission. If you do, you will only have yourself to blame. Bought the 2009 Altima with 80,000 in late 2014. Not even a month the transmission was failing but fortunately was covered under their extended 120,000, 10 year warranty because of the number of failures. So we got a brand new transmission fro the factory that totally failed again with 70k miles of driving as the car had 141K and so we were out of the warranty period and the work was only covered for 1yr. These are the worst transmission ever, you may get a great price but you will lose that savings replacing these CVT transmissions as it cost $3200 to replace and the mechanic said the the entire inside was totally thrashed. You have been warned, do not buy Nissan CVT transmission cars..

Hi, I just received a call from an Ashley and she said at this time Nissan couldn't offer any type of

reimbursement for my transmission. I'm just curious to know if they even took into consideration that I took my car to Nissan to have it looked at because the transmission was going into safe mode when it would get hot. We put it on the machine and there were no codes that came up on the transmission so I went ahead and had them change the fluids and filter and whatever it is they do for a transmission service. I leave the dealership and I smell fluid but thought nothing of it. I drive my 60 miles home and the next morning my husband drives his 48 miles to work. When I go outside to take my daughter to school there is a big puddle of transmission fluid in my drive way. I call my husband and when he gets to car after work sure enough there is a puddle of transmission fluid under my car. I called the dealership and they waited till 6 o'clock for my husband to drive the car another 50+ miles to see what was going on. Turns out a hose had split and leaked out the transmission fluid. They fixed the hose put transmission fluid back into my car and washed out from underneath car because it was covered in fluid. Then almost 2 months later my cars transmission has all these codes and I need a new one. I didn't ask for the full amount I just feel like Nissan should provide the customer service that they say they will. There's been numerous problems with the 2009 Nissan and that's why they extended the transmission warranty and the steering lock box which went out in my car and left me and my daughter stranded and a tow bill. I just feel like I'm being done unfair and put in a financial situation for servicing my car. I mean would the transmission of went out if it didn't leak out the fluid after the service?

On 10/17/2016. Brought 2009 Altima to Kline Nissan dealer for multiple services including transmission flush (big mistake). On 11/7/2016, my wife was driving car to work on major hi way (35E) during rush hour when car started losing speed. Could not accelerate. Car quit in right lane. Cars and semis were passing her on the right shoulder. After 10 minutes and numerous single finger salutes, a Hiway Patrol car arrived and pushed the car to the shoulder. Car was towed to Kline Nissan in Maplewood MN. We were informed that the transmission failed and would have to be replaced (approx $4,300). 384 miles from time of service to time of failure. I was told the two events were unrelated (really!) and perhaps Nissan would reduce cost of new transmission. Talked to a real asshole (Justin) from Nissan Regional Customer Service today. Told me that Nissan would not reduce my cost of repairs. He also told me that I already had gotten an extended warranty to 120,000 miles. Car has 126118 miles. Last Nissan I will buy!

Update from Nov 11, 2016: Got four quotes (all $3800.00) for replacement of transmission. The dealer lowered his price by $500.00 and the replacement has started. Thanks Brian for your help. It had to be done and I saved some money so I guess I'm satisfied.

The family and I were on a short trip. The car shook while pulling off from the 2 previous traffic lights. 5 minutes later the car stopped pulling altogether. We coasted to the side of the road. The car never had any problems before. It will not move in ANY gear; not in automatic, manual, forward, nor reverse. The car is beyond the warranty. The CVT transmission can only be replaced, not repaired. Repair shops can't even get parts for it so Nissan basically has a monopoly on it. Replacement Estimates range from $2600 - 4200. We just got finished paying for the car, and now this. Any suggestions are more than welcomed.

Nissan knows the CVT transmission is junk so they increased the warranty to 120k, but too bad mine died 30k later. And really it only got that far due to my babying it and extra regular service. I have 4 other cars all with over 200k and no transmission failures - of course none of them is a Nissan. If I had known of this problem I would not have bought the car. Will never buy another Nissan. With the number of premature failures on this transmission there should have been a recall or lifetime warranty to fix the problem. Nissan knows how to fix it to keep it from failing, but i guess they don't need repeat customers. So now I have a car that I still have a few more payments to make and it is now worth nothing.

We bought a 2009 Nissan Altima and had trouble with the vehicle a couple times. Nissan took care of the issue after having it towed because the ignition would not let the vehicle start. Our next issue has been the transmission has went out at 123,000 miles. We took the vehicle to Nissan on 2 occasions because we had issues with the vehicle slowing down even while having the gas pressed all the way down. They told us nothing was wrong and then a couple months later we took it back and they let us know the transmission needed changed.
