CarComplaints.com Notes: You should probably steer clear of the 2012 Focus. Otherwise, you might not be able to steer at all.

The 2012 is the first Focus to offer Electronic Power Assist Steering (EPAS). It's also the first year with massive power steering failure. These things are not mutually exclusive.

And while you wait for your steering to disappear, you'll be greeted with a transmission that shudders, vibrates or won't shift at all.

Problem was detected and a recall was ordered for the fuel system in October 2018. It is now May 2019. All I get is a letter that they are working on it. Then I get a letter saying the replacement parts will be available in early Spring and I will be notified to bring it in. Serious problem! Car could stall at any time and not restart. Told to keep the gas tank full when it's half empty. With only a 12 gallon tank, it has me filling up 3 times a week! It's time they resolved the problem and made the replacement parts available to the dealers! Its summer now so their promise it would be repaired in early Spring is a lie!

terrible gas mileage after clutch replacement

Ford finally replaced shuddering clutches and seal after months of my complaining. Shuddering is now gone, but this model SFE was purchased to provide high fuel economy. Before the clutch replacement we averaged 38 mpg overall with 41 mpg on the highway. I now get under 30 mpg overall.

I'm hoping that this is a "running in" software issue since the shift points and rpm have certainly been changed to more aggressive settings. Will it change back to original "economy" settings after a defined running in period or will it have to be reprogrammed?
