CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2013 Nissan Altima has multiple problem trends including the CVT transmission, and now that this model is out of warranty, it earns our "Avoid Like The Plague" badge.

Owners complain about vibration and transmission failure related to the CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission), a whining noise from the power steering pump, and constant windshield problems that appear to be the result of poor design.

Be warned: the 2014 & 2015 Nissan Altima appears to share these same problems.

Somehow the center console became loose and started wiggling. If you put your arm on the rest it will move around loosely. It also rattles while driving. I haven’t had it fixed because I can manage to live with it before paying $200 for have it fixed.

So I dropped my phone on the front-passenger floor and I leaned over my driver seat to grab it and I felt my ENTIRE center console just shift... I was like wtf! I've noticed that it even moves a bit if I lean my arm on the center arm rest.. this shouldn't be happening... my car isn't THAT old... it's a 2013, wtf!

Altima 3.5S V6

  • CVT transmission
  • 2,000 miles

The dash vent started rattling at about 2000 miles. The dealership fixed that, which resulted in a center console rattle, best described as the hard plastic crackling that is fairly constant, especially over even semi-rough roads or bumps. The problems with this car are by no means limited to this. I completely agree with this sites Clunker badge.

I got in and the center console felt extremely loose. They tightened some bolt and fixed it.
