CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2013 Nissan Altima has multiple problem trends including the CVT transmission, and now that this model is out of warranty, it earns our "Avoid Like The Plague" badge.

Owners complain about vibration and transmission failure related to the CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission), a whining noise from the power steering pump, and constant windshield problems that appear to be the result of poor design.

Be warned: the 2014 & 2015 Nissan Altima appears to share these same problems.

When the ac fan is turned on it is very noisy - the faster the fan the worse the noise gets.

NO MORE NISSAN! I swear to god! This is the second time!!! How could leaves get in to AC blower motor!!! You guess what! It happened twice already! I bought this brand new 2013 Altima on 2013. It cost a lot to own this car, less than 5 years (77000 miles), it has cost me 4000+ dollars just for regular maintenance, annoying issues like this.

I have had several issues with my 2013 Nissan Altima 3.5SL since the warranty expired at the end of March 2016 and I only have 30K miles on the car. Recently the blower fan started making noise when I turn up the A/C. I have had so many issues I don't have the time, money or patience to deal with these issues. Looking for a new car!!!

BROUGHT TO DEALERSHIP ALONG WITH OTHER PROBLEMS NEVER SOLVED. THE BLOWER, WHEN ON FROM MID RANGE TO MAX, HAS EXTREME VIBRATIONS AND VERY LOUD. OF COURSE DEALER'S REMARKS NORMAL.

FINALLY TO ALL NEW CAR BUYERS. DO YOUR HOMEWORK ON THE CAR YOU WANT. BLOGS ARE OK BUT FIRST HAND INFO FROM SOMEONE WHO OWNS THE CAR YOU WANT CAN TELL U A LOT. I WAS A SERVICE WRITER FOR TOYOTA, PORSCHE, OLDS, PONTIAC, ECT. TAUGHT TO LIE, AND SELL UNNEEDED WORK. THE LIE STARTS WITH SALES. THEY WILL TELL YOU ANYTHING TO MAKE THE DEAL. IT'S ABOUT M O N E Y. I GUESS I DID NOT PRACTICE WHAT I KNEW. HAVE A BLESSED DAY

Altima 3.5S V6

  • CVT transmission

A loud humming coming from the fan starting at about 8000 miles. Sigh. This car. I haven't had it fixed yet. I dread yet another trip to the dealership, the 5th in a year for this cars myriad problems, to try and convince them that an obvious problem actually exists. Dealership employees must be trained in the art of not hearing or feeling what every other person hears and feels. This car is a piece of junk, and this sites Clunker badge is well-deserved.

Had a new left over 2013 altima with 4 k mi on it when a/c was turned on the blower motor got so loud we had to turn it off! brought it to the dealership and said it was full of debris and charged me 115$ because nissan would not cover cleaning out the air box! so i asked does that mean i have to remove the blower mtr and clean it out like 25 times in it's lifetime? no comment! and not saying where the car was parked before i had it for a year! I garage my car! anyways after enough bitching to nissan they issued ma a store credit (LOL) of 115$ probably the cost of an oil change! any more problems I'm going back to a Ford!!

When turning up AC on hot days, the blower was so loud. You could not even hear the radio. Took to dealer, service man said this is a common problem with the Nissan. Debris, leaves, work their way into the blower between the wipers and the windshield. Only had this car 9 months, cannot believe I have to pay $110.00 for repair.

If this is a common problem, is this a manufacturing defect? How am I suppose to keep this from happening again. You can only own a Nissan, if you have a garage? Sounds like the wipers are pushing down into the holes. And why is there holes there. Have own many different cars over the years, never had this problem. Second thoughts about this car everyday! Wish I stayed with Honda.
