CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2013 Nissan Altima has multiple problem trends including the CVT transmission, and now that this model is out of warranty, it earns our "Avoid Like The Plague" badge.

Owners complain about vibration and transmission failure related to the CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission), a whining noise from the power steering pump, and constant windshield problems that appear to be the result of poor design.

Be warned: the 2014 & 2015 Nissan Altima appears to share these same problems.

The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Altima. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH, he heard an abnormally loud knocking sound coming from the rear passenger-€™s side brakes. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to pull over and the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. The vehicle was diagnosed and the contact was informed that the rear control arms and the bolts attached to the frame need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 165,000. Consumer wanted to include a link to Nissan-€™s website where they say this is an issue but only in Canada due to high volume of salt being used. Wisconsin which is a state they say uses a high volume of salt.
